When Coraline steps through a door in her family's new house, she finds another house, strangely similar to her own (only better). At first, things seem marvelous. The food is better than at home, and the toy box is filled with fluttering wind-up angels and dinosaur skulls that crawl and rattle their teeth.

But there's another mother there and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go. Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and all the tools she can find if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.

This beloved tale has now become a visual feast. Acclaimed artist P. Craig Russell brings Neil Gaiman's enchanting nationally bestselling children's book Coraline to new life in this gorgeously illustrated graphic novel adaptation.

I really wanted to read more Neil Gaiman books this month because I absolutely love and enjoy reading his books last year, so I decided to read one of his graphic novel and I decided and picked up Coraline at the library. And Ohh wow what and beautiful and creepy graphic novel was Coraline for me. I absolutely love and enjoy reading every minute of it. Now I haven't read the book of Coraline just the graphic novel, but now after reading this amazing graphic novel I really want to read the book. Just to experienced the story once again plus I heard amazing raving reviews about the book. I won't go into any details about Coraline because I think everybody knows what this amazing graphic novel is about. But I will tell you that I do highly recommend reading Coraline graphic novel as well because I utterly and totally love the graphic art in this book. Because it is really beautiful and very creepy especially at the middle and end of this book that just get a little bit more darker and darker until the very end. I actually decided to watch the movie Coraline for the first time on Netflix and I really loved and enjoyed it as well. All and all I absolutely love and enjoy everything in Coraline that I can't wait to read more Nail Gaiman's books in the near future!

Neil Gaiman (Author)

I make things up and write them down. Which takes us from comics (like SANDMAN) to novels (like ANANSI BOYS and AMERICAN GODS) to short stories (some are collected in SMOKE AND MIRRORS) and to occasionally movies (like Dave McKean's MIRRORMASK or the NEVERWHERE TV series, or my own short film A SHORT FILM ABOUT JOHN BOLTON).

In my spare time I read and sleep and eat and try to keep the blog at www.neilgaiman.com more or less up to date.

  1. I read the exact same edition of Coraline with you, and I agree! The illustration is amazing, it really differentiates the other world and the reality. And yeah, it definitely adds to the creepiness by illustrating the other mother!
