The acclaimed graphic novel world of The Witch Boy and The Hidden Witch comes to a thrilling conclusion in this story of friendship, family, and finding your true power. Magic has a dark side . . . Aster always looks forward to the Midwinter Festival, a reunion of the entire Vanissen family that includes competitions in witchery and shapeshifting. This year, he's especially excited to compete in the annual Jolrun tournament-as a witch. He's determined to show everyone that he's proud of who he is and what he's learned, but he knows it won't be easy to defy tradition. Ariel has darker things on her mind than the Festival-like the mysterious witch who's been visiting her dreams, claiming to know the truth about Ariel's past. She appreciates everything the Vanissens have done for her. But Ariel still craves a place where she truly belongs. The Festival is a whirlwind of excitement and activity, but for Aster and Ariel, nothing goes according to plan. When a powerful and sinister force invades the reunion, threatening to destroy everything the young witches have fought for, can they find the courage to fight it together? Or will dark magic tear them apart?

I loved and enjoyed reading The Witch Boy graphic novel trilogy so much that I am really sad to read the last and final book The Midwinter Witch last January. This book is a great book to read during the holiday season because it is set during the holiday season. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this amazing graphic novel last year because I waited all year to finally read the last book of  The Witch Boy trilogy.

Which this series is one of my all-time top favorite graphic novel series on my favorite list. When I finally got the chance to read The Midwinter Witch and check it out the library I was not disappointed at all this graphic novel had everything I love and check ever mark that I love in graphic novels. I won't go into any details about The Midwinter Witch because this is the third volume of a book and I don't want to give any spoilers away.

But if you have read the first two volumes of The Witch Boy series than you know that at the beginning of this book is where The Hidden Witch left off at. The main reason I love The Witch Boy series is the whole unique plotline and aspect of this book and series, I especially love the whole diverse characters in this series as well. And I love that each volume continues with the whole diverse characters and the actions and decisions they make in each volume especially in The Midwinter Witch. All the characters have to make decisions and sacrifices for there actions on what to do in their lives or the lives of their family and friends.

This book truly shows the value of true friendship and who are your true family members and I so thoroughly loved and enjoyed reading that aspect in The Midwinter Witch. I know some characters frustrated me they way there were handling certain situations in their family and friends that I just wanted to knock some sense into them and see what their actions were doing and hurting their beloved love ones. Despite what everybody thought in their family that specific person still holds what that person truly is and nobody could change their mind not even their family member can make that person regret who they truly are.

All and all I love and enjoyed reading the last and final book The Midwinter Witch that I am really sad to let go to all the amazing and fantastic characters and the world of The Witch Boy trilogy but I will certainly be reading more books by Molly Ostertag soon. Molly Ostertag is such a very talented and fantastic author I can't wait to read her next series that she comes out with!

Molly Ostertag (Author)

I grew up in the forests of upstate New York, where I spent the first half of my childhood reading about fantastical adventures and the second half acting them out with foam swords at a live action roleplaying camp . I graduated in 2014 from the School of Visual Arts, where I studied cartooning and illustration, and I currently live in Los Angeles. My artistic interests include women in fiction, fantasy and sci fi, superheroes, and history.

I illustrate a twice weekly webcomic called Strong Female Protagonist with co-creator Brennan Lee Mulligan, which was listed as one of io9's Best New and Short Webcomics when it launched in 2012. I ran a successful Kickstarter in the summer of 2014 to print the first volume, which was distributed by Top Shelf comics and is now available in stores and online.

I'm currently working on a graphic novel with First Second named Shattered Warrior, coming out in Spring 2017.
