"Ninth House is the best fantasy novel I’ve read in years, because it’s about real people. Bardugo’s imaginative reach is brilliant, and this story - full of shocks and twists - is impossible to put down." (Stephen King)

This program includes a bonus conversation with the author.

The mesmerizing adult debut from Leigh Bardugo, a tale of power, privilege, dark magic, and murder set among the Ivy League elite.

Galaxy "Alex" Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age 20, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

Still searching for answers, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. Their eight windowless "tombs" are the well-known haunts of the rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street’s biggest players. But their occult activities are more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive. They tamper with forbidden magic. They raise the dead. And, sometimes, they prey on the living.

I have always wanted to read a Leigh Bardugo book for a long time now and when I first heard she had an adult & fantasy book coming out in October. I had to try and check it out from the library and I was hoping they had an audiobook of Ninth House at my library. And guess what I was the first person who got of hold of this amazing book on audio cd form at my library and I couldn't be more excited to start to listen to it in October.

Now Ninth House is a super hype book when I first heard about it last summer but now during the fall season I've been hearing mix reviews about this book. So I went into the book with low expectation and I decided to listen to this book and audio form than physical book form which was a great decision on my part to listen to this book on audio rather than read it on the physical book. Because when I was listening to this book at the beginning I got kind of confused and lost but then a few chapters in I started to understand the plotline and aspects of the Ninth House. I had to get used to learn and understand the whole secret society and rules of the world in the Ninth House I started to get more into this book.  Now I don't want to go into any details about the Ninth House because of spoilers.

But I will tell you this is a dark book and has a lot of trigger warnings within the story but I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading this book so much.  This is my first Leigh Bardugo book that I have read so far but it won't be my last, I really want to read her previous books that are young adult books called the Grishaverse series which I hope I can read the whole series soon.
Now if you read her previous books that are Young Adults I don't know if you will love this book of hers which the genre is New Adult & Fantasy because I have heard mix reviews about it with readers that have loved her Grishaverse book series but really didn't Ninth House all that much. I still say you should give Ninth House a shot and see how you feel about this book yourself. I so love both the narrators Lauren Fortgang and  Michael David Axtell I thought both these narrators did an excellent job narrating Ninth House that I could hear nice and clear and understand each voice they were narrating in Ninth House.

All and all I so loved and enjoyed reading Ninth House that I can't wait to read this next book of the Alex Stern series next year.
