A story of love and demons, family and witchcraft. Nova Huang knows more about magic than your average teen witch. She works at her grandmothers' bookshop, where she helps them loan out spell books and investigate any supernatural occurrences in their New England town. One fateful night, she follows reports of a white wolf into the woods, and she comes across the unexpected: her childhood crush, Tam Lang, battling a horse demon in the woods. As a werewolf, Tam has been wandering from place to place for years, unable to call any town home. Pursued by dark forces eager to claim the magic of wolves and out of options, Tam turns to Nova for help. Their latent feelings are rekindled against the backdrop of witchcraft, untested magic, occult rituals, and family ties both new and old in this enchanting tale of self-discovery.

Oh, how I loved and enjoyed Mooncakes so much it hit ever checkmarks that I love in graphic novels and I think this graphic novel is a great book for the fall season as well. I don't want to go into any details about Mooncakes because I think you should read this graphic novel and see if you would enjoy it as much as I did. Now Mooncakes is a great graphic novel for the Halloween season as well because it has witches, werewolves, demons and the love of family. I can gush on and on how much I loved Mooncakes but first I will tell you what I so loved and enjoyed this book about. The plotline and aspect of Mooncakes were so refreshing and new to me that I haven't read a graphic novel like it before I so love the relationship that Nova and Tam had together they are a great couple and both of them or perfect for each other as well. And the other relationship I loved the Nova had was the relationship she had with her whole family especially her grandmothers who I loved and adore so much. All the characters are diverse and I so love and enjoy reading diverse characters, the villains were very villainous and horrible people too. The writing style flowed beautifully and I understood each word that I couldn't get enough of the storyland and when Mooncakes was finished I wanted to read more but atlas its ending was a perfect ending to me even though I wanted to know what will happen next for Nova and Tam. The graphic artwork was so beautiful and amazing that I couldn't stop staring at the artwork. All and all I loved and enjoyed reading Mooncakes so much that I can't wait to read what Suzanne Walker & Wendy Xu (Artist) writes next I will keep my eyes open for the next book if the write together again.
