Cassidy Blake's parents are The Inspecters, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one.

When The Inspecters head to ultra-haunted Edinburgh, Scotland, for their new TV show, Cass—and Jacob—come along. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead. But Lara tells Cassidy that as an In-betweener, their job is to send ghosts permanently beyond the Veil. Cass isn't sure about her new mission, but she does know the sinister Red Raven haunting the city doesn't belong in her world. Cassidy's powers will draw her into an epic fight that stretches through the worlds of the living and the dead, in order to save herself.

I've been hearing so many amazing reviews about Victoria Schwab books and her books are very hype as well that I had to check out her middle-grade book City of Ghosts, yes this is my very first Victoria Schwab book and guess what I absolutely and thoroughly loved and enjoyed it so much. I know some readers don't think this is the best book that Victoria Schwab wrote but I enjoyed everything in City of Ghosts that I can't wait to continue reading more books by Victoria Schwab shortly, I will most definitely continue reading more of the Cassidy Blake series. Which I can't wait to read the second book Tunnel of Bones when it comes out in September of this year. Now I won't go into any details about this book because I don't want to get to the spoiler but I will gush about how much I love this book. I absolutely love the plotline and the setting of City of Ghost which is set in a haunted Edinburgh, Scotland I never read a book set in Scotland before this is a first for me and let me tell you how Mrs. Schwab describes Edinburgh and the haunted areas of that city I felt like I was actually there along with the characters in Scotland that how she beautifully describes Edinburgh for me. All the characters where amazingly fantastic and very active as well this is the first time I read a book with parents who are a ghost-hunting team which I love reading about Cassie parents. I also love how her parents interact with Cassie and their crew I just love Cassie parents relationship with her period her parents are amazing and great parents as well they are a great ghost-hunting team even though they are somewhat inept in the ghost-hunting business of there team. I especially love the friendship relationship that Cassie and her male best friend Jacob have even though he is a ghost, now her new friend Lara was an intriguing one for me because Lara is a very strong character that acts wiser than her age in this book. But I love that about Lara and she is not afraid to tell Cassie the truth to her face in a matter in fact kind of way. The writing style was flawless and very descriptive like I say before I felt I was there along with the characters and the writing style is also very engaging as well. All and all I love everything about the City of Ghost that I can't wait to continue reading more about Cassie and her adventures with her ghost-hunting parent's team.
