WHY WE LOVE IT: BOOM! Studios have a long history of publishing some of the industry’s best modern horror, and Curse takes us back to our roots with a werewolf story with a twist unlike any you’ve ever seen.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT: The Curse creative team practically screams "horror"—from writers Michael Moreci (Roche Limit) & Tim Daniel (Enormous) and artists Riley Rossmo (Drumhellar) & Colin Lorimer (UXB), you’re in for one of the best-reviewed comics of 2014, injecting new life into the classic werewolf story.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Laney Griffin is a man who will do anything to save his son from leukemia, but the cost of treatment has broken him financially. When he pursues an elusive murderer in the wilderness of his small, rural community in the hopes of securing a substantial bounty, Laney is confronted with something he never could have expected: a werewolf. The captive Lycan, in human form, turns Laney’s life upside-down, forcing him to confront his haunted past and race against the clock because there are only 30 days until the next phase...

I went into this graphic novel blindly I only know that it was about werewolves, I give it 3.9 stars so 4 stars on Goodreads. I really did love and enjoy Curse Vol. 1, this graphic novel is pretty dark and gruesome and has a lot of violence in it. If you don't like really dark and gruesome graphic novel than this one is not for you. I really don't want to go into any details about this awesome graphic novel but I will tell you what I love about it. I absolutely love the dark plotline and concept of Curse about a father who would do anything to save his son from leukemia, but the cost has depleted him completely so what does the father do. He does the next crazy thing he goes out and searches and pursues to catch an elusive killer in the wilderness in his small rural community who nobody survived trying to catch this killer. But Laney Griffin is on a mission to catch the killer to collect the huge bounty for the medical cost for his son. When Laney Griffin finally catches sight of the killer he can't believe what he is seeing and what he caught, Laney life just turns upside down completely but for the worst. And I am going to stop here without spoiling it for anybody. The artwork was absolutely amazing the artwork reminded me of some of the artwork in The Woods by James Tynion & Michael Dialynas I could look at the artwork for ages. I thought all the characters were well developed and rounded, the writing style flows well and I understand everything that was going on. The only thing I would have liked if this graphic novel had some background on Laney Griffin and some info about his small rural community, I also would of love if this Vol. was longer but it was a short and quick read. I don't know if this comic is an issue or vol. because how short it was. But none the less I will continue on reading the other volumes of Curse series because I really want to know and learn what happens next too Laney Griffin and his sick son.

Michael Moreci (Author)

Hi, I'm Michael Moreci. Thanks for stopping by. I'm the author of a number of comics, some you might even recognize. I've written Roche Limit and Hoax Hunters for Image, Curse and Burning Fields for Boom!, and a few other original titles. I've also written stories for characters like Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Conan the Barbarian.

My debut novel, Black Star Renegades, will be released in January of 2018. It's been likened to Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy, but I like to think of it simply as a fun space adventure story about a group of outcasts learning to believe in themselves--and trust each other--so they can find the power to defeat the galaxy's evil.

So, that's the book. As for me, I'm a writer, reader, and dad (in no particular order). Stories are at the center of my universe; they've taken me to more places than I can even imagine. But that's what stories are to me--journeys. In other places, to new ideas, to seeing the world anew through a fresh set of eyes.

Now, I get to tell stories of my own, and I love every second of it. Let's have some fun and go on some of these journeys together.

You can follow me on Twitter.
