Post Prompt:
What is your take on DNF Books. Do you review them? Choose not too review them?
My Answer:
There has been a few books that I have DNF but I do not rate or review them, because I feel it is unfair for me to review or rate a book that I have not finished reading the whole book. But that is only my opinion. I do totally understand why readers do rate and give an honest review of an DNF books. And that is absolutely ok as well.

I give books to my parents as gifts. We have similar reading tastes, so I buy them books that I also want to read, so everyone wins. We share a Nook account so it's really easy.
ReplyDeleteThat great Alison my mom is not a reader at all but I have one aunt and niece plus multiple cousins who love too read so I gift them the books. Thank you for stopping by my blog Alison.
DeleteI usually don’t review DNF books, either. I don’t want to critique something that I’ve barely read. I’ve never given a book as a gift. I don’t know anybody who read in real life. :(

Yes that's how exactly I feel as well when I DNF books. I am sorry you don't have anybody too gift book too who are readers I am just glad that I can pass or gift books to family members who love too read like me. Thank you for stopping by my #FFF AJ.
DeleteI gave a similar answer about DNF books. I'm still conflicted about it though, I feel like as a reader I would want to know if a book has issues, so I don't end up buying it. I guess the part I hate most is leaving a star rating. If I'm just able to explain myself without condemning it to a one star, that is one thing. I feel like most people just look at ratings and fail to read actual reviews, but maybe I'm wrong. Old follower. Here's my FF post.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand your conflicted feeling but I do read the DNF reviews because the reviews always help me decide if I should give the book a try or not I don't go by the rating at all I go by the reviews. Thank you for stopping by my #FFF.
DeleteI decided after a lot of debating to post reviews for my DNFs but I totally understand those who choose not to. All a matter of personal opinion. :) Happy reading!

Yes I totally understand way some reader reviews DNF books I do like reading DNF reviews because those reviews helps me decide too choice too give a book a try or not. Thank you for stopping by my #FFF
DeleteUnless I've made significant progress through a DNF book, I don't review it. But if I've gotten to the 40-50% mark, I will write a review of some sort. These are not like my typical reviews, though.
ReplyDeleteAnd that it totally ok because I do really like reading honest DNF book reviews. Thank you so much for stopping by my #FFF.
DeleteThat is awesome that your family is full of booklovers! I'm torn on reviewing DNFs. I don't like to do a full review of them but sometimes if I've had a bunch of DNFs and books that are just kind of meh I'll do a mass post and just list why I didn't finish the book. I don't rate it on Goodreads either though.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is totally ok to me DNF honest reviews are always helpful for readers. Thank you for stopping by my #FFF.
DeleteI do not rate or review them either. I just never know what to say. I also don't dfn too much. I have a need to finish the book. new follower.
ReplyDeleteYou are very strong too stick out reading a book you don't like, not me I usually stop if I read 100 pages or so if I can't get through with the rest of the book. Thank you so much for stopping by my #FFF.
DeleteI DNF books very rarely. I don't often review them unless I'm obligated to than I try to share it in private with the person I have the agreement with. Following on Twitter!
ReplyDeleteThat really is a great way as well sharing your review in private with the person. Thank you for stopping by my #FFF.
DeleteI feel the same! I usually don't review books I've DNF since I've always felt that it wouldn't be fair to review a book that you haven't finished.

DeleteI love gifting books!
ReplyDeletestill posting review because it affected me in some ways. I want people to know how I felt reading the book because it might help them justify their take on the book (if it was similar to mine). Happy Friday!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog Kaori.
DeleteMy answer is over on my blog, but I agree that it's great to have a family who all love reading! :)

DeleteI sometimes will offer the reason why I didn't finish a book, but I don't know that I would call it a review. Nor do I rate books I don't finish. I don't feel that would be fair.
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to know a lot of readers too. :-) I enjoy giving books as gifts!
Yes I am the same way with books that I DNF as well, isn't a great feeling when you gift a book too someone who loves reading like you do. :D Thank you for stopping by my Blog Hop.
