Marjorie Glatt feels like a ghost. A practical thirteen year old in charge of the family laundry business, her daily routine features unforgiving customers, unbearable P.E. classes, and the fastidious Mr. Saubertuck who is committed to destroying everything she’s worked for.

Wendell is a ghost. A boy who lost his life much too young, his daily routine features ineffective death therapy, a sheet-dependent identity, and a dangerous need to seek purpose in the forbidden human world.

When their worlds collide, Marjorie is confronted by unexplainable disasters as Wendell transforms Glatt’s Laundry into his midnight playground, appearing as a mere sheet during the day. While Wendell attempts to create a new afterlife for himself, he unknowingly sabotages the life that Marjorie is struggling to maintain.

*** I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much to Lion Forge publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review Sheets! ***

First I would like to apologize that I am writing this review so late and not write it last year during the summertime, yea I am that late in the ball game my only excuse is my health problem got in the way so I couldn't write a lot of reviews last year because of my health issue. So I am sincerely sorry to Lion Forge publisher for writing this review so late. Now let's get into the review now, shall we? This was such a cute and bittersweet graphic novel I really did love and enjoy everything in this awesome graphic novel it made me feel so many feelings while reading it. Now I don't want to go into any details about Sheets because I think all you readers should read this book and see if you enjoy this book as I did. I think this book is a really great middle-grade book as well it teaches us about loss, grief, identity, and true friendship. I felt so bad for Wendell a ghost boy who died so young he really is trying to find his identity and fit in the world that he is in sorry I totally don't remember the world is called that Wendell is in. But I felt so many emotions when he first enters that world and he had no clue at first what happens to him the adult ghost starts teaching him everything about the world that Wendell is in. And one of his daily routines as a ghost is to death therapy which it was really ineffective in every way for Wendell. Wendell really wanted to find a purpose in the forbidden human world. We also met a thirteen-year-old human girl name, Marjorie Glatt who is in charge of the family laundry business. Now I felt so bad for Marjorie because she is a struggling teenager trying to go to school and handle the family laundry business as well while trying to grief for a loved one that she recently lost at the same time. Now I do think that is a lot for Marjorie to go through by herself but she manages it quite well even though she sometimes wants to give up everything so it can be much easier for her. But Marjorie is a much stronger teenager that you can ever image, I was so rooted for both Marjorie and Wendell while reading Sheets that I was so proud of them when I read the last chapter in this graphic novel. Ahh and before I forget the graphic art is so cute and adorable I absolutely love looking at the artwork so much while reading Sheets. The writing style and dialogue is crisp, flawless and very understandable to read. All and all I absolutely loved and adore Sheets so much that I do highly recommend this book to everybody.

Brenna Thummler grew up in northwestern Pennsylvania, where she developed a great love for nature trails, peanut butter, and, above all, drawing. A graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design, she was named the Society of Illustrators Zankel Scholar during her junior year. Since graduation, she has done editorial and advertising work for such clients as the New York Times, the Washington Post, Razorfish, and Empathic Films LLC. While Anne of Green Gables is her first published graphic novel, her first original graphic novel is Sheets. In those rare moments she’s not creating art, you might find her dancing, making music, baking cheesecakes, or spending time with kindred spirits.
