DON’T FEAR YOUR DEMONS… FIGHT THEM!

Orphaned as a child and raised on the margins of society, Jack Boniface never knew his place in the world. Until he discovered it waiting for him… in a darkness far older than the reign of men…

Unbeknownst to him, Jack was fated to become the next in a long lineage of Shadowmen – mortals bound to violent voodoo spirits of immense power – that could safeguard our world against incursions from realms beyond.

For years, he struggled to control the loa’s murderous urges – a battle he eventually lost.

But now, after years of self-imposed exile, the man once known as Shadowman is returning home to sharpen the weapon within…and unleash a reckoning on the evils of our world that will soon send shockwaves through heaven and hell alike…

Shadowman storms to the forefront of the Valiant Universe – more powerful, more terrifying, and more relentless than ever before – in an adrenaline-fueled ongoing series from superstar writer Andy Diggle (Green Arrow: Year One, The Losers) and high-octane artist Stephen Segovia (Action Comics)!

Collecting SHADOWMAN (2018) #1–3.

*** I received this graphic novel on Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much to Diamond Book Distributors publisher for the opportunity to read and review Fear of the Dark! ***

Whoa! This graphic novel was really amazing I really and thoroughly loved and enjoyed it so much. Now I did go into Fear of the Dark blindly. I had no idea who was the Shadowman Jack Boniface was, but when I first read the synopsis that it is about voodoo spirits I had to check it out. And I am so glad and happy when I got my hands on this amazing graphic novel, I really don't want to go into details about Fear of the Dark because I don't want to get to a spoiler. From the first page I know I was going to love this graphic novel, I just love the gritty and amazing artwork and if you know me you know I love the amazing and great artwork in a graphic novel. The plotline and concept were really unique and refreshing, I haven't read a novel or graphic novel with voodoo magic in it this is actually the first time I read a great graphic novel with voodoo magic in it and I really enjoy reading it. The writing style was very descriptive and expressive and on point, I didn't get confused and I understand everything that was going on. I thought all the characters were very well developed and rounded I couldn't get enough of them, I especially couldn't get enough of the Shadowman Jack Boniface! I just felt really bad and horrible for him struggling to control his loa’s murderous urges and when he finally comes back to his home from his self-imposed exile, that's when everything changes for him. I would like to say this is the first time I read Fear of the Dark (Shadowman) I haven't read other Shadowman graphic novels or comics to understand more about the Shadowman universe. I thought this graphic novel did an excellent job of telling us newbies about the whole background of the Shadowman universe I was not even confused and I understood everything that was going on in Fear of the Dark. But of course, I wish I learn a little bit more about the characters but I think in the next volumes will tell us much more about the Shadowman universe and characters. All and all I really love and enjoy Fear of the Dark that I can't wait to continue on reading the next volumes of the Shadowman series!
