This Week Question:
When reading a book, do you use a bookmark to mark your place in the book, or do you just fold over the top corner of the page? (submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books)
My Answer:
When it is my own book I actually do both I do use a bookmark on my book but I also do fold a corner on the top corner as well. Please don't hate me! But the reason I fold the top corner of my book is, because sometimes when I use a bookmark it almost always falls out of the book that I am reading and than I lose my place on the book. I usually don't remember on what chapter I stop at on the book as well if the bookmark falls out. So that is why I used both a bookmark and fold the top corner of my book. But I don't fold the top corners on library books or my graphic novels. I know it is really horrible things to do in books, but it is the only things that helps me really know what chapters I am on if the bookmark falls out in my books which it is almost all the time.

I won't judge you too harshly! It does make sense why you do both though, my bookmarks have a tendency to slip out too and I'm always searching for my place. Have a nice weekend.

DeleteI understand! I can't stand folding corners, so I use it only as a very last resort, but I've often been irritated when a bookmark has fallen out of a book, so I can't judge you. :-)

DeleteI'm not sure I've ever had a bookmark just fall out of my books unassisted by tiny hands (dang kids losing my place!), but if it's a common problem for you, then it absolutely makes sense that you'd dogear your pages too.

Yes almost all the time the bookmarks falls out in my books for me which annoys the heck out of me, but I always carry my books in my bag because I am always going out with my mom to places. So I take my books in my bag which that is the sole reason why the bookmarks always falls out in my bag. Thank you so much for stopping by and understanding my predicament with bookmarks.

DeletePerhaps try a larger bookmark? Or a large envelope like I use. The ends stick WAY out of the book. :)

I have try larger bookmarks but they fall out as well and I really don't like using large envelopes in books. Sorry it just a pet peeves of mine that I really don't like anything sticking WAY out in my books, because it will just get on my nerves later on. DeleteDon't feel guilty about folding a corner! They're YOUR books! Love them and treat them as you wish! Trust me, if folding a corner is all you do to a book then you are a saint compared to me. :)

DeleteDon't worry! The problem I do have with bookmarks sometimes is that they tend to fall out of the book and I end up losing my place in the book!
