One Life to One Dawn.

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by
A Thousand and One Nights, The Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end.

Ohh My My My I don't know way I waited so long to read The Wrath & The Dawn because I heard so many amazing reviews about it plus it is a retelling about A Thousand Night. But I think it was all the hype about this amazing book which in truthfully it totally deserves all the hype it got, but the hype got too me. Because I read one book that was over hype and I was really disappointed in it so I usually wait until the hype dies down in a book until I read it for myself. And that's what I exactly I did for this amazing book which I am glad and happy that I decided to check out The Wrath & The Dawn from the library and see if I like it or not. And OMG I absolutely and totally fell in love with this book especially the beautiful, fascinated and enrich world that Mrs. Renee Ahdieh created. Just wow I can feel all the emotion the characters and the people were going through with the king and the kingdom. I especially felt ever emotion Shahrzad felt towards her king and husband Khalid. I really connected to Shazi and understand her reasoning for why she married the king who she thinks is a cold hearted monster and why she left her family and friends for which I won't say why because it is kind of spoiler. But I loved Shazi immediately because of her hot headiness, stubbornness, loyalty and her strengths to survive. She kind of reminds me of someone that I personally know so I connected with her. I especially love the friendship that she has with her handmaiden Despina of course Shazi didn't trust her at the beginning, but Despina and Shazi grow closer more when that got too know each other more. Plus I absolutely love the banter that Shazi and Despina both had with each other. The more time Shahrzad spent in the palace the more her life was in danger but she met a lot of friends in the palace as well as she got to learn more about her husband the king Khalid. Ahh Khalid everybody in the kingdom say he is a cold hearted monster and boy king and that's what Shazi thought as well. She had so much hate towards him but the more time she spend with Khalid the more she see's who he truly is especially in his eyes. But she also know he has dark secrets he is keeping from her especially the secrets on way he kills all his wives. But Shazi was determined not to change her feelings towards Khalid and find out his secrets on way he kills his wives. But Shazi hearts falls for the king and she completely falls in love with Khalid the boy king and monster as will Khalid falls madly in love with Shahrzad. Eventually Shazi finally finds out the truth about Khalid secrets as well Khalid finds out about Shazi secrets too. Now I am going to leave it off here because I don't want to get too spoiler but I kind of know what was the secret of Khalid on why he kills his wives. But I so didn't see that cliffhanger ending will I kind of did but in the same time didn't if that makes sense. But all and all I absolutely love and enjoy this book so much that I can't wait to read The Rose & The Dagger that I have already check out from the library and I am going to read it really soon hopefully next week. I really do highly recommend The Wrath & The Dawn too all my friends and fellow readers as well!
