Sometimes beauty is the beast…

"We all hold a beast inside. The only difference is what form it takes when freed."

Rain Ryland has never belonged anywhere. He’s used to people judging him for his rough background, his intimidating size, and now, his orphan status. He’s always been on the outside, looking in, and he’s fine with that. Until he moves to New Wurzburg and meets FriederikeBurkhart.

Freddie isn’t like normal teen girls, though. And someone wants her dead for it. Freddie warns he’d better stay far away if he wants to stay alive, but Rain’s never been good at running from trouble. For the first time, Rain has something worth fighting for, worth living for. Worth dying for.

*** I received this book by the publisher in exchanged for an honest review, thank you so much too Entangled Publishing for giving me the opportunity too read and review Haven! ***

OMGosh I am so in love with this amazing book, just whoa it was absolutely and utterly fantastic and right up my alley. When I first started reading Haven I totally forgot what the synopsis was about, and I didn't look up the synopsis again after I finished reading it. So I actually went into this book completely blind and was just hooked by a couple of chapters in. I wanted too know more about Rain and his aunt Ruby I actually wanted to learn more about his whole family background on why Rain mom ran away from her home town and all she went through with Rain while she was poor on the streets with him. And don't worry we do get to know about everything about Rain family while reading Haven and I thought the secrets that were reveal about his family was really fantastically well done and put together. Ohh my, my, my what dirty secrets was reveal. I so can't forget about the kickass and badass Friederike Burkhart aka Freddie and her gang of cousins she is beautiful, secretive and very mysterious with her pale blue eyes. Ohh Freddie is a very mysterious person to Rain but she has really intrigued him after the stunt she pulled after math class with her cousins but what intrigued him more about Freddie is where and how he find Freddie hiding in Mrs. Goff shed in the backyard. I won't tell you how he find her or why she was hiding in the first place because that is spoiler, but Rain try asking Freddie how she got there when they both were in school the next day. Freddie gave him a sassy comment and basically told Rain to mind his own business, but Rain wasn't going to stop helping her so he told her if she needed any help that he will always be there for her. And that's when Freddie starts getting involve with Rain and things started getting real dangerous for both Rain and Freddie. But no matter what they both will always be there for each other even when there are deep and dirty secrets are reveal, Rain and Freddie will always be together even though things starts getting really dangerous by the end. And here's where I am going to leave it off at without spoiling it for anybody. But all and all I truly and thoroughly love and enjoy Haven so much that I will most definitely will continue reading more books by Mary Lindsey. I really want to read her other books as well in the near future!

With the Bramley family grieving in separate corners of their home, Kitty sets out to find the psychic who read Nikki his fate. Instead she finds Roan, an enigmatic boy posing as a medium who belongs to the Life and Death Parade--a group of supposed charlatans that explore, and exploit, the thin veil between this world and the next. A group whose members include the psychic... and Kitty's late mother.

Desperate to learn more about the group and their connection to Nikki, Kitty convinces Roan to return to the Bramley house with her and secures a position for him within the household. Roan quickly ingratiates himself with the Bramleys, and soon enough it seems like everyone is ready to move on. Kitty, however, increasingly suspects Roan knows more about Nikki than he's letting on. And when they finally locate the Life and Death Parade, and the psychic who made that fateful prophecy to Nikki, Kitty uncovers a secret about Roan that changes everything.

EXCERPT: “Hey, Cora,” he said, his gravelly morning voice so damn sexy. “Hey,” she said, tilting her head back to look him in the eye. She wondered if she should get off him, but didn’t really want to. Not making any move to get up, Slider just looked down at her. “How you feeling?” “A lot better,” she said, hyperaware that her hand was lying on his chest. His heartbeat faintly registered against her palm. “Still achy and a little off, but better.” “Good. You should probably take it easy today, though. Whatever that was isn’t likely out of your system yet.” She nodded. “I will.” Talking like this, their faces so close, felt so damn intimate that Cora could almost imagine that nothing existed outside of Slider’s bed. She almost didn’t want it to. Especially when his arm squeezed a little tighter around her shoulders and brought them just a little closer. Cora shifted into his embrace, pressing her chest totally flush against his die, and sliding her thigh up until— Oh, hell. Until she felt the part of him she’d accidentally seen. And it was hard. He sucked in a breath, and his hand clamped around his thigh. “Shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean—” She placed her fingers loosely over his mouth. She didn’t want him to apologize. Or explain it away. Or push her away. Cora knew she shouldn’t wan the things she did, but that didn’t make her desires go away. It felt good to want Slider, it made her feel normal, even if she was a little nervous. After what her father had done, that seemed like a victory she didn’t want to relinquish. And, oh, now that she was touching his face, she really didn’t want to stop. His lips were full and soft under her fingers, his stubble was more ticklish than prickly, and his cheekbone was prominent under his skin. He licked his lips, and her gaze latched on to the movement. “Cora,” he rasped, his cock getting even harder against her thigh. His arousal fueled her own, her hips tilting with the need for friction. The movement had her grinding herself against the firm muscle of his thigh and made both of them suck in a breath. His grip tightened on her everywhere. His arm holding her tighter yet to him, his hand pulling her thigh wider across him. Her fingers returned to his mouth again, and traced across his lower lip. His tongue flicked out and swiped at her pointer finger, and Cora was instantly wet. Trembling with need and adrenaline and the fear that at any second, he would cut this off, Cora shifted ever so slowly, ever so slightly, bringing her face closer to his. He watched her like she was a tigress about to strike, but just as her mouth almost reached his, he flipped them and pinned her to the bed. And Cora realized she had it all wrong. He’d been the feral animal about to attack all along.

Release Day Blitz: The Proposition (The Players #2) by Elizabeth Hayley

Professional hockey player Ben Williamson doesn't quite know how he got himself into this situation; hiring someone to be his date to his brother's wedding is way out of character for him. But with family pressuring him to settle down, going stag just isn't an option. It would just be one more thing his polite, cultured family uses as ammo against him. Ryan Cruz is having a bad day. Wait, make that a bad year. Broke, technically homeless, and living on a friend's couch, she's now also unemployed after her sharp tongue gets her fired from her job. So when a handsome stranger approaches her out of the blue with a proposition--he’ll pay her to be his date to his brother’s wedding for the weekend--accepting his offer is a no brainer. She needs the cash and figures it wouldn't be in the best interest of a professional athlete to murder her. What starts as a simple business arrangement soon becomes more as these opposites attract and get caught up in the wedding magic. Will Ben and Ryan be able to turn their relationship into something more? Or is love based on a proposition too much of an obstacle to overcome?

Ryan heard a “Ben, go after her” from behind her as she hurried toward the door. She thought his mother had said it, but she couldn’t be sure. Her ears were too busy ringing with the force she was exerting to hold back her tears. She’d made it to the driveway before she heard Ben call her name. She ignored him as she made her way to the rental car. He caught up to her right as she reached it. “Ryan,” he breathed. She turned toward him and held out her hand. “Keys.” “What?” he asked, looking flustered. “Give me the keys, Ben.” “No, let me . . . let me take you back. We can talk and—” “I have nothing to say to you. And I’m sure as hell not getting in a car with you.” “Ryan, please let me explain.” “You have. I got the message pretty clearly inside. Seems like everyone else did too. It was quite a show.” Ben ran a hand over his head. “I didn’t mean to say that. It just came out. I was angry, and—” “Jesus Christ, Ben! Stop. You’re not an eighteen-year-old kid anymore. You can’t use your anger as an excuse for saying shitty things. Besides, it’s not like you didn’t say anything that wasn’t true.” Ryan shrugged. “They know the truth about me, and I know where I stand with you. It was for the best.” “That’s not . . . that’s not where you stand with me. You’re more than that.” Ryan laughed humorlessly. “No, I’m not. I’m not even that actually. All I am is an out-of-work waitress who was desperate enough to let some guy think she was an escort.” The startled look on Ben’s face would’ve been comical if it wasn’t for the fact that Ryan was pretty sure she’d never laugh for real ever again. “Wait, you’re not an escort?” “Well, I mean, I guess I am now. Thanks for that resume builder, by the way. But before I met you? No. I was just some girl trying to figure out how she was going to make ends meet after I quit waitressing at a crappy strip club. And then you barged into my life and offered me a better alternative. So I took it.” Ryan had managed to keep her emotions in check, but time was running out on that. “But now it’s over. So give me the keys.” After a moment’s hesitation, Ben pulled the keys out of his pocket, but he toyed with them instead of handing them over. “I don’t want it to be over,” he said softly. “Well, it really doesn’t matter what you want. There’s no coming back from that. We both know it.” “I don’t know that.” She sighed. “Then I guess you never really knew me at all.”

Elizabeth Hayley is actually "Elizabeth" and "Hayley," two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands' chagrin). They live with their husbands and kids in a Philadelphia suburb. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read. Elizabeth Hayley's writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: "I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind." FACEBOOK | AMAZON AUTHOR PAGE | GOODREADS | BOOKBUB

Yes another graphic novel that I adore and love! I have been meaning to read The Stonekeeper (Amulet #1) by Kazu Kibuishi for a very long time. I heard many raving reviews about the artwork and stories of Kazu Kibuishi books. I especially heard amazing reviews about The Stonekeeper (Amulet #1) specifically so I wanted to give this amazing graphic novel a try. Ohh my the artwork is absolutely beautiful and detailed that I just love seeing the different graphic arts in this book. The plotline was unique and heartbreaking as well that I just felt so bad for both Emily and Navin. The characters were all very well developed and rounded that my heart broke when I read the tragic scene at the beginning chapters of this book. Plus I absolutely loved the writing style so flawless and beautifully written that I couldn't get enough of it I needed too read more! I don't want to go into any details about this fantastic and amazing graphic novel, because I think everybody knows what it is about. But all and all I absolutely and totally love and enjoyed everything about The Stonekeeper (Amulet #1) that I will most definitely continue on reading more of this series. I actually already have the second book check out from the library I so can't wait to read it next!

Review: Baba Yaga's Assistant by Marika McCoola & Emily Carroll (Illustrations)

ASSISTANT WANTED ASAP
Must have skills in hauling, obeying orders, cooking, and cleaning. Magical talent a bonus. Must be good with heights. Enter Baba Yaga's house to apply.

Most children think twice before braving a haunted wood filled with terrifying beasties to match wits with a witch, but not Masha. Her beloved grandma taught her many things: that stories are useful, that magic is fickle, and that nothing is too difficult or too dirty to clean. The fearsome witch of folklore needs an assistant, and Masha needs an adventure. She may be clever enough to enter Baba Yaga's house on chicken legs, but within its walls, deceit is the rule. To earn her place, Masha must pass a series of tests, outfox a territorial bear, and make dinner for her host. No easy task, with children on the menu!

Wry, spooky and poignant, Marika McCoola's debut--with richly layered art by acclaimed graphic artist Emily Carroll--is a storytelling feat and a visual fest.

I have always wanted too read book by Baba Yaga after I read the book Uprooted there are some reference about her in Uprooted, which by the way I just love Uprooted as well. So when I saw this graphic novel that has Baba Yaga in it I wanted to give it a go and read it since I am really into graphic novels lately. So I check it out from the library this book is a 3.5 star for me I didn't love it but I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite part was how Baba Yaga was acting towards her would to be assistant Masha and giving her test to do and prove if she was a worthy assistant or not. And I really liked the silly and crazy test she gave and thoroughly enjoy how Masha acted on those silly and crazy test. Masa is a very cleaver girl which her grandmother told her plenty of Baba Yaga Stories so she is so ready for her own adventure with Baba Yaga as her future assistant if she past the test though. I absolutely love the artwork in this graphic novel it was very beautiful and creepy at the same time which is the way I like creepy novels to be like. The plotline was very unique and new for me, which this is the only graphic novel I have read with Baba Yaga in it so it was a refreshing book for me to read. The characters I thought were well rounded and well developed but I didn't feel any connection to any of them. But the writing style was beautiful and flawless that I just love reading every word in this graphic novel. All and all while I didn't love this graphic novel I absolutely and thoroughly enjoy it more than I thought I would. I would really like to read more books by Marika McCoola and Emily Carroll in the near future.
